Ashely originally recommended a compact roundabout at the Crown Road-Taharepa Road intersection as part of a School Travel Plan completed prior to starting Corridor Solutions in 2023. In 2025, the roundabout was finally constructed.
What We Did
Provided initial road safety advice to Taupō District Council.
Completed a Design Stage Safe System Audit on the proposed designs.
Recommended design improvements and assisted the design team with implementation.
Provided ongoing road safety advice during construction.
Outcome
While some community members initially expressed concerns about the compact size of the roundabout, its opening brought immediate benefits. The adjacent school reported a significant improvement in traffic flow and pedestrian safety, validating the design approach.
