Project Overview
Corridor Solutions was appointed by Hastings District Council to manage the implementation of the Asset Management Data Standard (AMDS), Waka Kotahi NZTA’s national standard for transport asset data. In addition to project management, Corridor Solutions completed data mapping of existing transportation data within Asset & Work Manager (AWM) to AMDS-compliant tables.
The project was a collaborative effort between Corridor Solutions, Beca, and Thinkproject, with NZTA providing governance and oversight to ensure successful delivery within agreed timeframes.
Project Objectives
Align Hastings District Council’s transportation asset data with AMDS.
Minimise disruption to business-as-usual activities during implementation.
Enable partners to use AMDS to help Hastings District Council achieve its wider objectives.
Scope and Approach
The project included all transportation assets and selected Parks and Reserves assets (bridges and cycle amenities). Delivery was structured into three stages:
Pre-Implementation: Planning, stakeholder engagement, and current state analysis.
Implementation: Data mapping and migration to AMDS tables within AWM, plus support for User Acceptance Testing.
Post-Implementation: Lessons learned and development of a data quality improvement plan.
Key Milestones
June 2025 – Project planning and governance established.
September 2025 – Data mapping completed and issued to Thinkproject.
November 2025 – Migration week executed; 57 automated migrations and 2 manual migrations completed.
December 2025 – Project close-out report delivered.
Challenges and Solutions
Just prior to migration week, additional contract and asset data was identified. Corridor Solutions acted quickly to complete extra mapping and stakeholder engagement, ensuring migration proceeded on schedule.
Post-migration, several validation issues were identified, mainly due to historic data quality and new AMDS fields. Corridor Solutions continued to support Hastings District Council staff, providing guidance on AMDS changes and implementing data corrections to improve validation.
Benefits Delivered
Successful implementation of AMDS for Hastings District Council’s transportation assets.
Improved confidence in asset data for planning and maintenance decisions.
A strong foundation for future digital asset management initiatives, supporting whakamana raraunga and better transport outcomes for the community.
